he Mardi Gras 3000 Expandable Card Game is a trading card game with role-playing and table-top gaming elements. Though players build their personal deck as with most trading card games, like table-top strategy games, players lay down Terrain over which their customized characters move. Role-playing elements are inevitable as most weapons, armor, characters, and Specials are drawn from the vast body of MG3K fiction.

The Alpha and Beta editions of the ECG were released in 2006 and 2008, respectively, with the extensive National Edition launched February 16, 2010. Cards are not compatible across editions and only the National Edition is now in official use.

There are 420 unique cards in the National Edition distributed across five themed decks and random-packed boosters. Our first expansion for the National Edition, the Mythology Expansion, adds another 350 cards. These are packaged exclusively with certain MG3K books and products published in 2010. All cards are rated as "standard" (those found in decks), "unlimited" (those found in boosters), and "limited" (those packaged with books and products).
