Mardi Gras 3000 Collectable Card Game (continued)
Back to Previous
"The Mardi Gras 3000 CCG is an addictive, intelligent game with a haunting atmosphere and complex back story. MG3K begins when two to six players strategically build the game board from randomly selected Terrain cards. Once the board is set, players move their customized characters decks across the board to do battle, out wit opponents, capture the Grail and harness it in a Portal.
"Operating on the innovative Stacked gaming system that allows players to build their characters from interchangeable, revolving, and peer-modifying cards, MG3K has nearly endless variations in play--neither the board nor characters need ever be the same. Of course, you can choose to play the same character stack again and again. Victories allow you to level up your character and increase their potency.
"The MG3K Starter Deck ships with enough cards for two players, two rare cards, a game grid, and easy instructions that include a 'walk through' and an illustrated 'Anatomy of the Cards' section."
This was the marketing copy for the Limited Edition of MG3K and it's true to the game. The deck itself grew from sixty-two cards as we moved through the "Alpha" and "Beta" decks to reach the Limited Edition. Officially, it's being called the Limited Edition and can be identified by the matte finish to the cards and the fact that they shipped in sheets (they were not pre0cut). Tournaments began in December 2006 and continue now in Washington and California.
Along with the Limited Edition MG3K Starter Deck, September 2006 saw the launch of six boosters that allowed players to add new characters, weapons or armor to their decks. There was also one Advanced Play booster set (Skills) shipped in September and many more (Morphs and Humans) as well as Advanced Play boards and Instant cards that shipped February 14, 2007.
However, the deck composition was completely changed with the National Edition. Now the Instants that were considered Advanced Play card ship with the Starter Decks and are considered entry level play. There is no play without Instants.
For all boosters and other items available now, go to the publisher's complete product list (with buy links) here.
Even though it was created for writers who want to create stories and novels in the MG3K universe, I really believe that players of the MG3K CCG get more out of the game if they read the sourcebook. It really sets the atmosphere of the game.
If you have ideas for new boosters, please don't be shy. I'm active on the MG3K boards and I want to read (and respond to) your ideas.
